Nifedipine Retard Tablets: Depin-E Retard is a slow release formulation of Nifedipine. It provides sustained levels of Nifedipine for constant therapeutic effects. Nifedipine is a potent vasodilator and antianginal drug which belongs to the calcium channel blockers. Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine derivative. It is chemically designated as 1,4 dihydro-2, 6-dimethyl-4(2-nitrophenyl) pyridine-3, 5-dicarboxylate.
Action
Pharmacology: Mechanism of Action: Nifedipine has a vasodilator effect. It produces peripheral arteriolar dilatation and consequent reduction in peripheral vascular resistance and afterload. Nifedipine produces reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. It also dilates coronary arteries and improves coronary circulation.
Indications/Uses
Depin-E Retard is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tablet of Depin-E Retard twice in a day. If required, the dose may be increased to 2 tablets twice in a day as directed by the physician.

There are no controlled studies about the use of Nifedipine in pregnancy and it should be used in pregnancy only when the potential benefits justifies its use.
